I Guess I Should Talk About My Life A Little...

I was born in Provo, Utah on April 3rd, 1991.  My mother was 20 at the time and was married to my father, James.  About 18 months later my brother, Jason, was born and 4 years after that Tad was born as well.  About a year later my mom and dad got divorced and my mother, my siblings, and I all moved to Novato, California where we moved in with my grandmother.  We lived with them for about a year before moving to Cloverdale, California.  I can't remember at the moment exactly how long we lived there, but eventually we moved to San Jose where my mother re-met one of her high school boyfriends, Scott.  They got married some time later and our little family of four became a considerably bigger family of 7 because along with Scott came his two daughter, Krystal and Tawnie.  Shortly after moving out of the way-too-small-for-our-new-family house and into the third house we lived in during our time in San Jose, we moved to St. George, Utah.  We lived there for about four years, during which my mom eventually divorced my step father.  During my sophomore year of high school we moved back to California where we still live today.

I know that's just a generic run down and you haven't learned much about me yet, but I also know you're probably not all that interested in it either.  Well, I think that I am going to leave it there for today; I'll try to go further into things later when I feel like it, but for now there you have it.

Well, yeah...
Four down, three to go.
Until the next time we meet, my darlings.
Why am I so weird...

I Warned You That I Like Yaoi

So, it's day three and I want to make sure that I make a post.  It's late and I just got home from work; so, I'm not really in the mood to do this, but I made a goal to make a post every day for a week and I am sticking to it.  So, as the title of this post suggests I am going to talk about yaoi because I love it and that's what I'm in the mood to talk about.

Now, what about yaoi do I want to talk about specifically...?

How about some favorite pairings?  Alright, let's go with that.

So, as I mentioned before, some of my favorite series are:  Tiger & Bunny, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Blue Exorcist, and Durarara.  So, I'll start with my favorite pairings from those.

Tiger & Bunny:  My all time favorite pairing from that would have to be - cliche as it is - Kotetsu and Barnaby (the Tiger and Bunny that the show is named after).  I would also consider this pairing my OTP, or "one true pairing," which is a way we fans refer to our top favorite pairing, basically.  I enjoy this pairing immensely just because the characters are so cute together; also, it pleases me to know that the pairing is actually slightly cannon (meaning true to the actual series and not something that the fans made up because they enjoy it) because the creators of the series themselves have actually admitted that there is more than just friendship between the two of them.

Another pairing that I enjoy from Tiger & Bunny would me Keith (Sky High)/Ivan (Origami Cyclone); unlike Barnaby/Kotetsu this pairing is not even slightly cannon, but I enjoy it anyway.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya:  Seeing as I'm a yaoi fan (their are only two het - heterosexual - pairings that I like even a little bit) and there are only two important male characters in this series, I'm sure that if you're familiar with it it's not hard to figure out who I ship.  My favorite pairing from this series is Itsuki/Kyon.  Before I was introduced to the wonderfulness that is Tiger & Bunny, Itsuki/Kyon was actually my OTP.  I adore this pairing despite my friends insisting that there's no way it would ever work; they just don't believe hard enough... Anyway...

Blue Exorcist:  This series contains the one pairing that I am the most ashamed of for adoring.  It's a horrible pairing that no one should like, but at the same time I can't stop.  Now because of how ashamed I am for liking it I'm not going to talk about it further, although I'm sure that if you're familiar with the series you'll probably figure it out.

Pairings that I am willing to talk about from the series that I like are Shima/Rin and Bon/Rin.  Yeah, I ship Rin with a couple different people and he is very much an uke - bottom.  Out of the two of them I prefer Shima/Rin because Shima is a character that I really enjoy.  Bon/Rin is cute though too because in the series Bon and Rin are basically rivals in the beginning, but then they slowly start to become friends and care about each other.

Durarara:  My favorite character from Durarara is Mikado and as such I actually ship him with two different people.  Mikado is my favorite character and Masaomi is my second favorite, but despite this my first favorite pairing actually involves Mikado being with my third favorite character, Izaya.  So, my favorite pairing from the series is Izaya/Mikado and my second favorite is Masaomi/Mikado; another guilty pleasure pairing of mine is the horrible threesome of Izaya/Masaomi/Mikado, but we won't go too far into that.  Durarara is also the series that contains one of the two het pairings that I'm alright with; in fact, not only am I alright with it, I actually really enjoy it.  That pairing is Shinra/Celty; they are just so wonderfully cute I can't stop loving them.

Well, I think that that's all for today.  I know it's random and no one cares or wants to know, but at least I made a post, right?

Three down, four to go.
See you all tomorrow.

Day 2: Introduction

Alright, so I am going to cheat with this post a little because I'm basically going to use the big introduction post that I wrote when I first tried to start this blog and just update it as much as I can and all that good stuff, so... Here we go:

What is this blog?
This is basically just going to be a blog where I write about whatever is on my mind at the time or whatever I'm in the mood to write about.  I do have a list of things that I would like to post about/random ideas of things to write about in case I don't have an idea for the day, but mainly I won't know what I'm going to write about until I start typing.  I know that this blog probably won't interest many people - if any at all, but that's not what this blog is for.  It's for me to write about what I want to when I want to.  I'll be writing about things I'm interested in/obsessed with, my day, my desires, or it could just be a rant because I'm angry about something.  I don't have very many strong opinions about things, but if I do, and decide to write them here, I'm going to make myself not worry about offending people, mainly because there isn't going to be anyone to offend, but also because this blog is for me to write anything I want, no matter what other people think.

Now onto a little about myself:
I am a 22 year old female otaku; my name is Cali.  I still live with my family which part of me thinks is sad and knows that I should move out, but the other part knows that I'm just not ready for it yet and is trying to be okay with that.  My family consists of my mother, Tiffany, myself, my 20-year-old brother, Jason, my 17-year-old brother, Tad, my 11-year-old brother, Sean, and my 9-year-old sister, Skye.  I live in northern California and despite the outrageous prices of a lot of things here I still love it.  I work at Staples as a cashier and have been working there for three years.  I go to school at Santa Rosa Junior College during the school year and during the summer I lie around and basically do nothing...

How about some interests:
As I stated in the "little about myself" and the title of this blog, I am an otaku, which in Japanese means "fanatic", but is more commonly used as a term to specifically refer to an anime fanatic.  So, as such, I am quite interested - obsessed - with anime, manga, and Japan in general.  I will go more in depth into that in a moment, but first I'll go into my other hobbies.

I love to write.  I have actually written two novels - even though one of them is in the process of being completely rewritten... Both of these were written in the month of November during the wonderful event known as National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).  I have participated in NaNoWriMo four times now; I won three out of four of those times and the first one I participated in was fan fiction, not an original work, so I don't completely count that one.

I do write fan fiction and I work on it way more than my original works, which sometimes makes me sad, but also there are just so many characters that I love and pairings that I need to write for that it sometimes just takes over.  I mainly write fan fiction for anime - being the otaku that I am, but I have written for a few live-action television shows and a movie or two.  Series that I have written for include, but are not limited to: Yugioh, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Death Note, Ouran High School Host Club, Clannad, and many others.  I hope to write for many other series, but I just haven't been able to get to them yet; I'll probably post a list of all the series I've written for and the ones that I would still like to write for in a while, but I'll leave that for later.

Although I have written two novels already, and plan to write many more in the future - I have at least four others in various stages of planning/writing - I do not intend to publish.  I am not super confident in my writing and my characters are near and dear to my heart so I don't want them criticized and the like; I write because I enjoy writing and have characters that simply need me to get their stories on paper, I don't do it for other people.

I love to read; I have read and love everything by Dan Brown.  I enjoy reading historical fiction about Ancient Egypt.  I also love fantasy and m/m romance, not a big fan of the other kind, but m/m I enjoy.

I greatly enjoy dabbling in the world of amateur voice acting - although I haven't been doing it nearly as much as I would like.  I don't fancy myself all that great of a voice actor, but it's something that I greatly enjoy doing and find very fun.  I know that I will never go beyond voice acting as a hobby, as much as I sometime fantasize about being a famous voice actress.  Usually I participate in anime fandubs, abridges, and the like, but every once in a while I'll help out with other projects.

I love to cook/bake.  I love to cook, but I slightly prefer baking; in fact, I prefer it so much that I actually plan on making a career out of it.  I will finally be starting my culinary classes this coming semester and once I get my AA in Culinary Arts I plan on working to get a certificate in baking and pastry.  I would really love to be a pastry chef/baker and although I'll probably never own my own bakery, I very much would enjoy working as the head chef in a bakery or something along those lines.

So, I think it's finally time for some anime:
Last, but definitely not least, the moment that all of you non-existent people have been waiting - dreading - for.  As made perfectly clear through out this post I am a great lover of anime, manga, and everything Japan.  It is a great wish of mine to one day visit and maybe even live in Japan - even if only for a year or two, but I know that that isn't very likely to happen.

If I had to I would say that my top three favorite anime are...  Tiger and Bunny, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and... it's probably a tie between Ao no Exorcist and Durarara.  About 2-3 years ago Yugioh would have sadly been on that list, but fortunately I seem to have grown out of that obsession at least a little bit.  Yugioh will always hold a special place in my heart being one of my very first anime, but it just doesn't take up nearly as much of my life as it used to.

I suppose that I should warn most of you that I am a Yaoi fan, but seeing as I already mentioned that I enjoy m/m romance I'm guessing you guys probably already figured that out.  I am quite fond of Yaoi, about 99% of the fan fiction that I have written is yaoi.  I actually don't even like heterosexual pairings except for a very few exceptions.  I am also a big fan of Yuri, but I don't enjoy that nearly as much as Yaoi, which a lot of my friends find amusing and slightly strange seeing as I am gay.

Okay... I think I'll leave it at that for the day.  I'll probably go more in depth into my favorite anime and all sorts of other things later, but for now I think this post is long enough.  I will be posting again tomorrow because I am insistent on completing this goal.  I will write a blog post for the rest of this week if it kills me.

Well, two down, five to go.
See you tomorrow.

Let's Get This Thing Started For Real

Alright so about a year ago I tried to start this blog and I started with this really long introduction post about who I am and all that kind of stuff, and in the post I said that I wanted to blog everyday for as long as I could (I never really mentioned a length for this goal or anything) and now here I am a year later and I hadn't made a single post after that day... Well, I'm going to try this again.

This time I have a set goal so I think I should be able to follow it.  I am going to try and make a blog post everyday for a week even if the post is super tiny.  I know it's a small goal, but baby steps right?

So like I learned in a college survival class, I am going to make a goal statement omitting all "trying":
"I am going to make a blog post everyday for the following week."
So today is the first post and my last post will be on Saturday August 3rd.

Now this is just a starting goal to see if I can keep it up for even this small amount of time; after that I do plan on making a longer goal and so on and so forth.

Well, that's a pretty big intro post so far and seeing as it's late I'll save worrying about really getting into introducing myself until tomorrow; that's when we'll get into the "fun" stuff.

Anyway, to all those non-existent readers, I bid you goodnight.
